Addressing root causes
Energy underlies every aspect of our emotional and physical well-being. When we are out of balance energetically, we typically feel stress, pain, and anxiety. Pain relief medicine works temporarily but does not address root causes. You can resolve the root causes of your stress, pain and anxiety — by gently releasing underlying negative thoughts and emotions — to bring about long-term and even permanent relief.

Getting back into balance
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or tapping is like acupuncture for the emotions; we tap with our fingers. Tapping is a simple, self-administered acupressure technique that has been scientifically proven to calm the amygdala (the fear center of the brain) and reduce cortisol levels (stress-related hormone) in the bloodstream. We are all aware of the connection between emotional and physical pain — EFT brings relief to both areas. Tapping helps to release painful thoughts and difficult emotions, resulting in more peace, clarity, energy, better-feeling thoughts and emotions, and greater well-being.

Research on the additional benefits of tapping
Research indicates that gently tapping acupuncture points stimulates the body’s own mechanisms to:
- Generate Natural Opioids (endorphins, enkephalins and dynorphin) which reduce pain;
- Generate Neurotransmitters (such as the mood regulator serotonin) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which reduces anxiety, and
- Reduce Cortisol by up to 50 percent. (Cortisol is the body’s main stress hormone.)
These biochemical changes create a rapid desensitization to stimuli that were previously emotionally stressful or traumatic. Acupoint stimulation is an effective treatment for fear and anxiety because it terminates the sympathetic nervous system’s fight/flight or freeze response and replaces it with the parasympathetic nervous system’s relaxation response.
